Welcome to BSA Girls Troop 678 - Mercer Island, WA, established February 2019!

For the first time in 100+ years of Scouting history, girls are now able to join BSA!  The historic move means girls, just like boys, now get to experience the values-based, life-changing, Instagram-worthy moments offered in all of Scouting’s programs — from Cub Scouting all the way to Scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout.

Interested in joining in our inaugural year as a founder or just want some information to think about it?  Send us an email: infotroop678@gmail for more information and/or  join us at our weekly meeting set every Tuesday at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church at 7:15 - 8:30 PM, except for non-school days.

Order of Arrow Eligibility for Election

Posted on Jan 17 2021 - 5:24am

Scouts - if you are eligible for Order of Arrow and interested in running for it, please let SM Rachel Yu or SPL Kelly Hoeffer know before Feb 5th. You need to be a First Class or above and have experienced at least 15 nights of Scouting camping (either short term or long term) in the last two years to be qualified.  The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society. It recognizes those who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives, and, through that recognition, causes others to conduct themselves in a way that warrants similar recognition, to promote camping, to develop leaders, and to crystalize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.  If you have any questions, please reach out to SM Rachel Yu or Troop OA Rep Mr. Paul Hoeffer.

Adult Volunteer sign-ups!

Posted on Jan 17 2021 - 5:22am

We need your help! T678 is only successful with adult volunteers. We are asking all families to please review the Adult's Position of Responsibility sheet and sign up for at least 1 volunteer spot. Available volunteer spots are in orange. We especially need ASM’s and MB Counselors! We will help you with training and give you a mentor! Thank you for making our Scouts succeed!

Merit Badge Counselors needed - please volunteer

Posted on Jan 9 2021 - 10:43pm

Being a Merit Badge Counselor is a fun and rewarding experience and allows adults a positive way to get to know the scouts in Troop 678 better and also contribute to the troop. We are looking for a few parent volunteers to lead several merit badges for our scouts, which is critical for their advancement and also provides much needed activities that can be done virtually and at home.  The merit badge classes we'd like to offer next are: Citizenship and the Community, Communications, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Family Life.

Summer Camp @ Grizzly (7/25-7/31)

Posted on Jan 9 2021 - 10:41pm

We have open spots at Camp Grizzly in Idaho, which has a lot of unique merit badges plus activities for older scouts like ATVs, off grid, metal working, vehicle maintenance and many more! Please RSVP on Scoutbook NOW if you are interested. Idaho camps were kept open even with COVID (like Easton was last year), so this is a great alternate if case WA camps are closed, or if your scout wants to attend a second summer camp. RSVP: https://scoutbook.scouting.org/mobile/dashboard/calendar/event.asp?Event...

Summer Camp @ Parsons (8/1-8/6) RSVP DEADLINE: Feb 1st

Posted on Jan 9 2021 - 10:40pm

The open spots at Camp Parsons are filling up super fast! Please RSVP on Scoutbook NOW if you are interested. We have to release the reserved spots if we cannot fill them up before the Council’s payment deadline, which is on Feb 5th. If the camp has to be cancelled due to COV-19, you will get a full refund.
